    Hello
I called into the churchyard to take pictures of my Chatten ancestor gravestones at the side of the entrance path.

We went inside and saw the ww1 wallplate with James T Chatten on it
James Thomas Chatten was a second cousin twice removed of mine But I had no knowledge he was in the army.

The only military entry I can find is a medal roll entry listing for James T Chatten linking the East Surrey Regiment. The medal roll gives no family details so wondered how you made the connection to the Carleton Rode James Thamas Chatten
He is in Rod Lane in 1901 census and Elm Farm 1911 and 1921 so army link on any census

    I don’t know of a Surrey connection

    i’m happy to help
